The Perplexity AI Motorola partnership marks a significant step forward in mobile AI innovation. On April 24, Perplexity announced that its AI assistant and answer engine will be preinstalled on Motorola’s latest smartphones worldwide. This is, without a doubt, one of its most ambitious integrations yet.

Notably, users won’t need to download anything. The assistant will come ready to use out of the box. As a result, Perplexity’s reach is set to grow rapidly, connecting with millions of new users.

Moreover, the integration adds unique capabilities to Motorola’s foldable Razr devices. When folded shut, users can still access the assistant through the external display, enhancing convenience.

In addition to answering questions, the assistant now supports tasks like booking restaurant reservations. It also enables deeper exploration using Related Questions. Furthermore, with Moto AI, users can simply type “Ask Perplexity” to unlock powerful search tools and instant information.

According to Motorola, this collaboration allows users to go beyond basic search. For instance, when checking concert dates or planning a vacation, they can “Explore with Perplexity” to get more detailed insights and connections.

As Perplexity noted in its blog, “This fundamentally changes the relationship between you and your device.” In essence, your smartphone becomes a personal assistant, answer engine, and research tool, available around the clock.

Additionally, the new Motorola phones feature AI tools from Google, Meta, and Microsoft. This ensures users have real choice in selecting their preferred AI experience.

Earlier this week, a Google executive highlighted this point during the company’s antitrust trial. He explained that upcoming Motorola models will include AI apps from Google, Microsoft, and Perplexity. Consequently, the devices offer a range of options for end users.

Prior to this, reports on April 16 revealed that Perplexity was also exploring a deal with Samsung. This effort aims to further expand its presence across mobile platforms.

In December, Perplexity successfully closed a $500 million funding round, which tripled its valuation to $9 billion. Clearly, the company is accelerating its momentum in the AI space.

Ultimately, this Motorola partnership moves Perplexity AI from browser-based access to a native smartphone experience. With that shift, it delivers 24/7 assistance, real-time answers, and task management—all right from the wrist or screen.
