The Vivo X-Fold 5 will compete directly with Samsung’s foldable phones. Vivo plans to release it soon in China and possibly India. It uses the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The phone weighs only 209 grams, making it one of the lightest foldables on the market. It features a 6.53-inch LTPO AMOLED cover screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals.
Vivo aims to launch the X-Fold 5 in China this month. Rumors also say it will debut in India on July 10 alongside the Vivo X200 FE. Vivo has tested foldables for some time. So far, only the high-end X Fold 3 Pro is available in India, priced at Rs 1,59,999. The regular X Fold 3 never launched in India, but that might change soon.
The Vivo X-Fold 5 stands out for its slim and light design. At 209 grams, it weighs less than the X Fold 3 (219 grams) and X Fold 3 Pro (236 grams). When folded, the phone is just 9.33 mm thick. Opened, it measures only 4.3 mm. While very slim, it still trails behind the Oppo Find N5 in thickness. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset helps Vivo offer strong performance while potentially lowering the price to challenge Samsung.
The phone’s displays impress. The cover screen measures 6.53 inches with LTPO AMOLED tech and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Inside, the phone unfolds to reveal an 8.03-inch AMOLED panel with 2K+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. The battery is large at 6,000mAh, the biggest seen in a foldable phone yet. It supports fast 90W wired charging and 30W wireless charging.
Camera upgrades are also notable. The Vivo X-Fold 5 has a 32-megapixel selfie camera visible on both screens. The rear cameras include three 50-megapixel sensors. These are a Sony IMX921 primary sensor, a Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a Sony IMX921 ultra-wide sensor. This setup aims to deliver sharp photos and videos.
With its lightweight design, strong chipset, advanced displays, and upgraded cameras, the Vivo X-Fold 5 looks ready to take on Samsung’s foldables. If Vivo launches it in India as planned, it could shake up the premium phone market.
