Apple Wallet Tmoney Card support has arrived in South Korea, offering iPhone and Apple Watch users a simpler way to pay for public transportation. You can now tap your device at subway gates or on most buses without carrying a physical card.
This update includes Express Mode, which lets users pay by simply holding their iPhone or Apple Watch near a reader. No need to unlock the device or wake the screen. Even if your iPhone runs out of battery, Express Mode still works for up to five hours.
You can now load funds directly into the Apple Wallet Tmoney Card using Apple Pay. Apple also added an automatic top-up option. When your balance drops below a set amount, the system reloads funds instantly. If you prefer manual reloading, the Tmoney app is still available.
To add the Tmoney Card, open the Wallet app and tap the plus sign. Select “Transportation Card” and follow the on-screen instructions. This digital option removes the need to carry the original plastic card.
Make sure your device is compatible. The feature requires an iPhone XS or newer running iOS 17.2 or later. For Apple Watch users, you need a Series 6 or newer with watchOS 10.2 or later.
The Apple Wallet Tmoney Card also works at major convenience stores throughout South Korea. Whether you’re commuting or grabbing a snack, you can pay with a tap of your device.
With this move, Apple brings greater convenience to millions of South Korean commuters. The integration of transit and retail payments into a single app reduces the hassle of managing physical cards.
Apple continues to push for a seamless and cashless experience. By blending fast payments, cloud syncing, and battery-resilient access, the company makes everyday transactions smoother than ever.
