Google I/O 2025 begins tomorrow, May 20, at 1PM ET / 10AM PT. Tech enthusiasts around the world are eager to see what Google has in store. Engadget will cover the event live through a detailed liveblog and on-the-ground reporting by Karissa Bell.

Last week, Google previewed some AI features during The Android Show. These include Gemini AI updates coming to Wear OS, Android Auto, and Google TV. But that preview only scratched the surface. Tomorrow’s keynote will likely dive deeper into how Google plans to use AI in search and everyday tools.

The main keynote isn’t the only session to watch. A developer-focused keynote will follow, covering more technical updates. However, Engadget’s coverage will primarily focus on the headline announcements.

Google has already highlighted Gemini AI in recent updates. Still, I/O 2025 may reveal even more features and integrations across its ecosystem. Some rumors suggest the launch of an AI-powered visual search platform, possibly a Pinterest-style tool.

Google also confirmed that Android XR will feature prominently. This is Google’s new mixed reality platform. It may include the much-anticipated headset developed with Samsung. We could also see an update on Project Astra, the smart glasses teased at the end of The Android Show.

Beyond hardware, Google is expected to expand its Android 16 news. A preview aired during The Android Show last week. I/O should provide more in-depth demos and feature rollouts for developers and device partners.

The NotebookLM mobile app announcement from earlier this week shows Google’s growing push into AI and productivity. That momentum is likely to continue during I/O, with more Gemini-powered tools expected.

You can watch the Google I/O 2025 keynote live on Google’s YouTube channel or its developer site. The stream begins at 1PM ET. Breakout sessions will continue through May 21 and will cover topics such as app development, AI integration, and XR technology.

If you care about where Google is heading with AI, mixed reality, and mobile development, I/O 2025 is a must-watch. The blend of product launches, software tools, and developer resources makes it a cornerstone event in the tech calendar.
