Metal Fetishist Firmware v2.0 Released

Body Synths Expands the Metal Fetishist with Firmware v2.0

Metal Fetishist Firmware v2.0 has officially been released by Body Synths, delivering a free update packed with powerful new features. First previewed at Superbooth 2025, the upgrade turns the already distinctive hardware instrument into an even more versatile sound machine.

According to Body Synths, v2.0 adds a second oscillator, direct MIDI playback, expanded effects, and new sequencer options. The result is an update that dramatically broadens the creative possibilities for producers, sound designers, and live performers.

Key Additions in Metal Fetishist Firmware v2.0

The update enhances both playability and sound-shaping tools. Highlights include:

  • MIDI Integration: Play the instrument directly from MIDI-enabled devices, complete with pitch-bend, channel selection, and limited MIDI CC.
  • Second Oscillator: Adds depth and harmonic complexity with an optional oscillator and octave switch.
  • New On-Board Effects: Phaser, Flanger, and Chorus expand beyond the original distortion palette.
  • Dry/Wet Mixer: Offers more control over blending distortion with effects.
  • Advanced Sequencer Options: Odd step lengths (3, 5, 7) and extended lengths (12, 18, 24) provide more rhythmic variation.
  • Extended Step-Modulation: Parameters like volume decay, pitch decay, cutoff decay, and the Rust/Corrosion effect can now be sequenced.

Together, these features make Metal Fetishist Firmware v2.0 one of the most significant free upgrades for a boutique hardware synth this year.

Sequencer Enhancements for Creative Freedom

The sequencer now includes options to disable auto-start when using external clock sources and a mode that always begins from the first step. These refinements give users tighter control in both studio and live performance contexts. Randomized modulation options also extend to more parameters, making it possible to generate evolving, unpredictable textures.

Settings Menu and Usability Improvements

The introduction of a new Settings Menu consolidates control over the expanded features, improving workflow. Updated manuals are available on Body Synths’ official support page, ensuring users can quickly adapt to the new tools.

This usability-first approach confirms Body Synths’ commitment to refining the Metal Fetishist Firmware v2.0 experience beyond raw features.

A Free Update with Big Impact

The Metal Fetishist has already earned praise for its raw sonic power and distinctive design. By adding direct MIDI capability, broader modulation, and richer effects, Body Synths elevates the instrument into new creative territory.

For existing owners, the firmware update is entirely free and downloadable now. For prospective buyers, it reinforces the Metal Fetishist’s value as a boutique synth with evolving capabilities.
