Xiaomi 17 Series Debuts With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

The Xiaomi 17 series has arrived in China just one week after the iPhone 17 series launched globally. Xiaomi presented the lineup at the Beijing National Convention Center, introducing the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Each phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Therefore, the series positions itself as one of the strongest competitors in the flagship space.

To start, the Xiaomi 17 comes with a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. It also includes a Leica-tuned triple rear camera featuring a 50MP primary lens, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telephoto unit. Buyers can select up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. However, unlike the Pro variant, the standard Xiaomi 17 does not feature a rear display, making it slightly less versatile.

In contrast, the Xiaomi 17 Pro adds more functionality. It uses the same front display but incorporates a 2.7-inch rear screen inside the rectangular camera island. This secondary panel can handle notifications, music playback, selfies, and reminders. Furthermore, the Pro carries a larger 6,300mAh battery, giving it stronger endurance. Its Leica-tuned telephoto lens also offers 5x optical zoom, which provides a notable edge in photography compared to the base model.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max crowns the lineup with the biggest upgrades. It features a massive 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED panel capable of 3,500 nits brightness. Like the other models, it uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and HyperOS 3. Yet the Pro Max distinguishes itself with a huge 7,500mAh battery, ensuring all-day performance for power users. Consequently, it appeals to those who prioritize battery life over everything else.

Pricing makes the Xiaomi 17 series even more compelling. The Xiaomi 17 starts at 4,499 yuan (about Rs 56,000). The Pro is priced at 4,999 yuan (around Rs 62,000). Finally, the Pro Max tops the range at 5,999 yuan (roughly Rs 74,500). Nevertheless, Xiaomi has not confirmed an international release, so buyers outside China must wait for further announcements.

Overall, the Xiaomi 17 lineup combines advanced Snapdragon power, Leica imaging, ultra-bright OLED panels, and huge batteries. Moreover, by keeping prices aggressive, Xiaomi strengthens its reputation for delivering premium technology at competitive rates. As a result, the 17 series has generated excitement not only in China but also among global fans awaiting availability news.
