Huawei Enjoy 70z Review: A Budget-Friendly Smartphone with Massive Battery Life

The Huawei Enjoy 70z, released in February 2024, is designed for users seeking an affordable smartphone with excellent battery life and solid day-to-day performance. With a 6.75-inch display, 6000mAh battery, and powered by the Kirin 710A chipset, the Enjoy 70z is built to meet basic smartphone needs while keeping costs low. In this review, we will explore the key aspects of the Enjoy 70z and how it stacks up in the budget smartphone segment.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Release Date: February 22, 2024
  • Display: 6.75-inch IPS LCD
  • Processor: Kirin 710A (14nm)
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128GB/256GB (expandable via microSD)
  • Battery: 6000mAh with 23W fast charging
  • Main Camera: 13MP dual-camera with depth sensor
  • Selfie Camera: 8MP wide
  • Price: Approximately €140

1. Design and Build Quality

The Huawei Enjoy 70z comes in a simple and durable design with a 9mm thickness and weighing 199g. The phone is comfortable to hold despite its large battery and slightly thicker build. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor allows for quick unlocking, and the device is splash and dust-resistant, making it suitable for everyday use in various environments.

The phone is available in three colors:

  • Black
  • Blue
  • White

The Enjoy 70z has a modern appearance with narrow bezels and a clean design, making it look more premium than its price suggests.

2. Display: Large IPS LCD for Entertainment

The 6.75-inch IPS LCD display offers a decent viewing experience with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a pixel density of 260 ppi. While the resolution is not as sharp as higher-end smartphones, it provides clear visuals for basic tasks like watching videos, browsing the web, and using social media.

The 20:9 aspect ratio gives the device a tall and narrow profile, making it easy to use with one hand despite its larger size. The display covers 84.1% of the front panel, providing a good screen-to-body ratio for immersive viewing.

3. Performance: Kirin 710A for Basic Tasks

The Huawei Enjoy 70z is powered by the Kirin 710A chipset, built on a 14nm process. This octa-core CPU consists of:

  • 4x Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz for performance tasks
  • 4x Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz for power efficiency

While the Kirin 710A is not the most powerful processor, it provides sufficient performance for everyday tasks such as browsing, social media, light gaming, and streaming. Paired with 8GB of RAM, the device can handle moderate multitasking without major slowdowns, though it may struggle with more intensive applications or demanding games.

The Mali-G51 MP4 GPU is adequate for casual gaming and video playback, but it may not handle more graphics-heavy games smoothly.

4. Camera: Basic Dual-Camera Setup

The Enjoy 70z features a dual-camera system with a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. While the camera system is quite basic, it performs reasonably well for a budget device, capturing decent photos in well-lit environments.

The 13MP wide camera has an f/1.8 aperture, which helps in capturing more light, making it better for outdoor or daylight photography. The 2MP depth sensor assists in creating portrait shots with background blur (bokeh effect), though the quality is limited compared to higher-end phones.

Selfie Camera:

The 8MP front-facing camera is suitable for selfies and video calls. It offers 1080p video recording at 30fps, which is a good feature for users who enjoy creating content for social media or need a reliable video calling experience.

5. Battery Life: Long-Lasting with Fast Charging

One of the standout features of the Huawei Enjoy 70z is its massive 6000mAh battery. This large battery provides excellent endurance, lasting up to two days on a single charge with moderate use. Whether you’re browsing, streaming, or using social media, the battery life ensures you won’t need to charge the phone frequently.

The device supports 23W fast charging, allowing users to quickly top up the battery. This fast charging capability is a great addition for a budget phone, making it convenient for users who are always on the go.

6. Software: HarmonyOS 4.0

The Huawei Enjoy 70z runs on HarmonyOS 4.0, Huawei’s in-house operating system. HarmonyOS offers a clean, user-friendly interface with plenty of customization options. However, like other Huawei devices, the Enjoy 70z does not support Google Play Services, so users will need to rely on Huawei’s AppGallery for app downloads and updates.

Despite the absence of Google services, Huawei’s ecosystem has grown, and most essential apps are available on the AppGallery. The OS runs smoothly on the Enjoy 70z, and users can enjoy features like gesture navigation, multi-window support, and dark mode.

7. Connectivity: 4G, microSD Expansion, and More

The Enjoy 70z supports 4G LTE, ensuring stable mobile data speeds for browsing, streaming, and light downloads. Although it lacks 5G connectivity, 4G remains fast enough for most everyday tasks.

Other connectivity features include:

  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for wireless internet.
  • Bluetooth 5.1 for seamless connections with wireless devices.
  • USB Type-C 2.0 for charging and data transfer.
  • microSDXC support for expandable storage up to 512GB, giving users more space for apps, media, and files.

Price and Availability

The Huawei Enjoy 70z is available for around €140 (EUR), making it a highly affordable option for users looking for a budget smartphone with solid battery life and basic functionality. Given its price, the Enjoy 70z offers good value for those prioritizing battery endurance and decent performance.

Conclusion: Is the Huawei Enjoy 70z Worth It?

The Huawei Enjoy 70z is a well-rounded budget smartphone that delivers in areas like battery life and basic performance. While it lacks some of the features seen in higher-end devices, such as 5G support or a high-resolution display, it compensates with its large screen, long battery life, and affordable price.

For users who need a reliable smartphone for everyday tasks like social media, calls, and media consumption, the Enjoy 70z is a solid option. Its 6000mAh battery and expandable storage make it ideal for users who prioritize battery longevity and storage flexibility over cutting-edge features.
