Huawei recently launched the Mate XT Ultimate, the world’s first tri-folding smartphone, which is currently exclusive to China. Initially, the company projected shipments of 500,000 units for 2024. However, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revised this estimate to 1 million units.
This surge in expected shipments is notable given the phone’s steep starting price of CNY 19,999, roughly translating to $2,830, €2,535, or INR 236,910.
It remains uncertain whether this strong initial demand for the Mate XT Ultimate will persist, as past instances have shown a decline in interest for Huawei’s flagship models after launch. Additionally, the high repair costs associated with the device may deter potential buyers.
The Mate XT Ultimate will officially go on sale in China tomorrow, September 20, and the sales figures will provide insights into whether Huawei can achieve its revised shipment target.
