The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will likely debut with a bold new design. Recent photos and a video, shared by leaker OnLeaks on X, confirm earlier rumors: the phone features a noticeably raised camera island. These images show what appear to be dummy units that closely match renders from September.

This design isn’t entirely new. Leaked renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 show a similar raised island. According to 9to5Google, that design causes the phone to wobble on flat surfaces. Now, the Galaxy S26 Ultra might face the same issue.

Samsung seems to be unifying its premium design language. In November, additional leaks revealed the return of the Galaxy S26 Plus. It also sports the elevated camera module. Reports suggest it will replace the slimmer Edge model this year.

The raised bump may bring functional benefits, but it also creates real-world challenges. Users might struggle with stability on tables or desks. Cases will likely need deeper cutouts. Wireless charging and car mount compatibility could also suffer.

Still, Samsung often prioritizes camera performance over sleekness—especially for Ultra models. The larger housing probably makes room for better sensors, lenses, or AI-powered imaging hardware. That trade-off usually appeals to photography-focused buyers.

Samsung has not confirmed these details. However, multiple trusted sources now show consistent designs. That consistency boosts credibility. The company typically unveils its S series in February, so an official reveal should come soon.

If history repeats, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will pack top specs: a brighter QHD+ AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (or Exynos), advanced AI tools, and a major camera upgrade—all inside that new bump.

Some users may dislike the wobble or bulk. But for early adopters and mobile photographers, the upgrades could outweigh the drawbacks. After all, Samsung designs the Ultra for performance first.

In the end, the raised camera island signals more than a style shift—it reflects Samsung’s push for better imaging tech. When the Galaxy S26 Ultra launches in February, that bump will tell the real story: what’s inside matters most.
