reMarkable Paper Pure is taking the company back to its minimalist roots with a new monochrome productivity tablet designed for distraction-free note-taking and reading.
The latest device arrives after reMarkable experimented with larger and color-focused productivity tablets in recent years. Now, the Norwegian company is returning to the black-and-white E Ink experience that helped define its brand.
reMarkable Paper Pure focuses on simplicity
The reMarkable Paper Pure replaces the reMarkable 2, which remained on the market for six years. The new device keeps the same 10.3-inch display size but introduces a wider design intended to improve note-taking and reading comfort.
Despite the redesign, the screen resolution remains unchanged at 1872 x 1404 pixels with a pixel density of 226 PPI. The monochrome E Ink display continues to target users looking for a paper-like writing and reading experience without the distractions commonly associated with traditional tablets.
The company says the Paper Pure is 50 percent more responsive than its predecessor while also delivering 30 percent more battery life through its 3,820mAh battery.
Improved hardware and storage
The reMarkable Paper Pure also brings major hardware upgrades. The device now includes 32GB of internal storage, four times more than the reMarkable 2 offered.
The tablet is also lighter, weighing around 360 grams, making it easier for users to carry during travel, meetings, or academic work.
The upgrades aim to keep the device competitive in an increasingly crowded productivity tablet market, where companies are racing to integrate smarter software tools and AI-driven workflows.
reMarkable adds modern productivity tools
One of the biggest changes with the reMarkable Paper Pure is the addition of several modern software features.
Users can now sync calendars directly to the tablet, allowing them to organize meeting notes more efficiently. Imported cloud documents can also be automatically converted into notebook-friendly formats for easier reading and annotation.
The company has also improved handwriting search functionality, helping users locate handwritten notes faster.
In a move aimed at professional users, the reMarkable Paper Pure integrates with collaboration platforms such as Slack and Miro. Handwritten notes can be converted into typed text and shared through Slack, while sketches and visual concepts can be transferred directly into Miro boards.
These additions signal reMarkable’s effort to position the device as more than just a digital notebook.
Pricing and availability
The reMarkable Paper Pure starts at $399 and includes a stylus in the base package.
A premium $449 version includes the Marker Plus stylus, which features an eraser function, along with a folio sleeve available in multiple colors.
Orders for the device opened immediately following the announcement, with shipping expected to begin in early June.
reMarkable phases out reMarkable 2
The company confirmed it plans to discontinue production of the reMarkable 2, although existing users will continue receiving software updates and support.
reMarkable also revealed that it has sold more than 3.5 million devices globally and now has approximately 1.2 million subscribers using its Connect cloud service. The subscription platform offers unlimited cloud storage, exclusive templates, and note-sharing capabilities.
With the reMarkable Paper Pure, the company appears to be doubling down on its original philosophy — creating focused digital writing tools built around simplicity, readability, and productivity rather than entertainment and multitasking.
