Samsung has officially started mass production of its fastest SSD for PCs, the PM9E1, which is based on PCIe 5.0 technology. The company claims that the PM9E1 offers the industry’s highest performance and largest capacity, making it a top choice for AI-powered PCs.
The SSD is built with a 5 nm-based controller and 8th-gen V-NAND technology, providing not only powerful performance but also enhanced power efficiency. This makes it an ideal solution for handling data-heavy AI applications.
In terms of performance, the PM9E1 boasts 14.5 GB/s read speeds and 13 GB/s write speeds, which will benefit data-intensive tasks. Samsung plans to offer the SSD in multiple storage capacities, ranging from 512 GB to 4 TB.
For security, the SSD includes features such as Secure Channel, Device Authentication, and Firmware Tampering Attestation to protect against supply chain attacks during production and distribution.
Initially, Samsung will supply the PM9E1 to global PC manufacturers, and it may enter consumer markets later under a different name, potentially something more memorable like 1090 PRO.
