Spotify has introduced a new feature called Offline Backup, designed to ensure you always have music to listen to, even when you’re out of reach. The feature automatically creates a playlist from your recently streamed and queued tracks, as well as cached songs on your device. This way, if you forget to download your favorite playlists before heading into a no-signal zone, Spotify will have you covered.
With Offline Backup, you can filter and sort songs by artist, mood, and genre, and the playlist will evolve as you continue listening, so there’s always fresh content. The feature uses no extra data or storage since it works with tracks that are already cached on your device.
This feature is now rolling out to Spotify Premium users on both Android and iOS globally. It appears automatically in the Home feed when you’re offline, as long as you’ve listened to more than five songs recently and have offline listening enabled. You can also add the Offline Backup playlist to your Library for easy access anytime.
