Google is gradually rolling out Android 15 to its supported Pixel devices, with some users already receiving the update and the mass rollout expected later this week. The update brings a range of new features and improvements, with highlights including better media decoding, font rendering, and multitasking capabilities.

Here’s the list of Google Pixel devices that will receive the Android 15 update:

  • Pixel 6 Series:
    • Google Pixel 6
    • Google Pixel 6 Pro
    • Google Pixel 6a
  • Pixel 7 Series:
    • Google Pixel 7
    • Google Pixel 7 Pro
    • Google Pixel 7a
  • Pixel Fold and Tablet:
    • Google Pixel Fold
    • Google Pixel Tablet
  • Pixel 8 Series:
    • Google Pixel 8
    • Google Pixel 8 Pro
    • Google Pixel 8a
  • Pixel 9 Series:
    • Google Pixel 9
    • Google Pixel 9 Pro XL

Although the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold aren’t on the list, they will also receive the update, as they initially launched with Android 14 but will be updated shortly.

Notable Features in Android 15:

  • Improved Media Handling: A more efficient AV1 decoder (dav1d) for better video performance.
  • PDF and Font Improvements: Enhanced PDF handling and superior font rendering for improved readability.
  • Experimental ANGLE Support: Early support for Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine for better graphics performance.
  • App Archiving: Users can now archive apps to free up storage space.
  • Private Space: A Private Space feature adds an extra layer of authentication for sensitive apps.
  • Power Efficiency APIs: New APIs allow apps to choose power efficiency over performance for specific tasks.
