Apple has released iOS 18.1, which addresses a major issue causing some iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models to randomly restart. Users had reported frequent unexpected restarts, with some experiencing up to 20 crashes per day. The problem seemed to occur unpredictably and could affect devices even when in StandBy mode.
Alongside the restart fix, iOS 18.1 also includes other bug fixes:
- A Podcasts issue where unplayed episodes were marked as played.
- Problems with stuttering or overheating when scrubbing through 4K 60 fps videos in the Photos app.
- A bug affecting digital car keys, preventing vehicles from unlocking or starting after restoring or transferring data from another iPhone.
Apple confirmed the fixes in the release notes for the iOS 18.1 release candidate.
