Samsung Electronics and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) have confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge will feature Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. This next-generation glass combines sleek design with advanced protection, redefining smartphone durability.
The Galaxy S25 Edge Gorilla Glass collaboration brings together Corning’s latest ceramic technology and Samsung’s proprietary reinforcement process. The result is a slim yet tough device that balances aesthetics and performance.
Kwangjin Bae, EVP and Head of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Mechanical R&D Team, described the S25 Edge as a new benchmark for craftsmanship. “We needed a display cover that was both ultra-thin and reliably strong. That challenge led us to partner with Corning. Together, we created something that reflects user-focused innovation,” he said.
Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 contains embedded crystals that enhance crack resistance and structural durability. Despite its strength, the glass maintains high optical clarity, ensuring vivid visuals.
Corning also applied its ion exchange process to the material. This method improves the glass’s retained strength and damage resistance without compromising its thin profile.
Andrew Beck, VP and GM of Corning Gorilla Glass, praised the collaboration. “We’ve achieved a powerful mix of thinness and toughness. It allows for a premium, modern design without sacrificing protection,” he said.
The Galaxy S25 Edge Gorilla Glass upgrade makes the device one of Samsung’s slimmest and most durable flagships yet. It reflects a shared commitment to pushing design limits while meeting real-world user needs.
With the S25 Edge, Samsung continues to innovate. The partnership with Corning ensures a resilient phone that doesn’t compromise on elegance or functionality.
