Google has launched Scheduled Actions in Gemini, a new feature to help users automate tasks and get personalized updates. Google was an early leader in AI but has been catching up with startups like OpenAI. Earlier this year, OpenAI introduced a task scheduling feature for ChatGPT. Now, Google offers similar functionality in its own AI, Gemini, to simplify routine tasks.
With Scheduled Actions in Gemini, users can tell the AI to complete tasks at specific times. They can also change prompts for recurring tasks. Gemini can provide calendar summaries, unread email counts, and live updates on sports teams or other interests. This feature helps users stay organized without repeated manual input.
Access to Scheduled Actions in Gemini is limited. Only Google AI Pro or Ultra subscribers and eligible Google Workspace business or education users can use it. Google hasn’t clarified if it will limit the number of active scheduled tasks like ChatGPT. It’s also unclear whether users can pause or delete tasks if they reach a limit.
Google also announced an “upgraded preview” of Gemini 2.5 Pro. This new model improves on the previous 2.5 Pro’s coding abilities. It aims to deliver better performance in programming and complex reasoning. Additionally, Google made it easier to open Gemini Live. Users can now swipe from the screen’s right edge instead of tapping a button.
The rollout of Scheduled Actions in Gemini highlights Google’s goal to boost productivity and keep up with AI innovation. Users will enjoy smoother, more personalized AI interactions that automate daily tasks. As Google improves Gemini and widens access, the competition with ChatGPT and other AI platforms will intensify.
