Amazon has introduced four new Kindle models, with the standout being the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, the first Amazon e-reader featuring a color e-ink display. This new model is designed for better visual experiences, such as reading comics, viewing photos, and color-highlighted text. It includes a light guide with nitride LEDs, offering paper-like colors and improved contrast. The device is waterproof, supports wireless charging, and provides up to eight weeks of battery life. Priced at $279.99, it will begin shipping on October 30.
In addition to the Colorsoft, Amazon also launched the second-generation Kindle Scribe (2024), which features a 10.2-inch, 300ppi display and introduces several new AI features, including text summarization and handwriting-to-text conversion. The device retains book notes with the Active Canvas feature and comes bundled with the Premium Pen stylus. The Scribe is priced at $399.99 and will ship on December 4.
The Kindle Paperwhite (2024) has been upgraded with a 7-inch e-ink display featuring a new oxide thin-film transistor for enhanced contrast and sharper text. It also offers 25% faster page turns and is fully waterproof. The Paperwhite starts at $159.99 for the 16GB model, with the Signature Edition (32GB and wireless charging) priced at $199.99.
Finally, the Kindle (2024) entry-level model sees minor improvements, including faster page-turns and 16GB storage, priced at $109.99.
