Samsung Electronics has named TM Roh, the head of its Mobile eXperience (MX) division, as the Acting Head of its Device eXperience (DX) division, following the passing of Han Jong-hee last week.
The move places TM Roh at the helm of both Samsung’s mobile business and its wider consumer electronics portfolio, which includes TVs, appliances, and other digital devices.
🧑💼 Executive Leadership Reshuffle
Samsung also announced several other key leadership changes:
- Won-joon Choi has been appointed COO of the MX division, while retaining his current roles as Head of R&D Office and Head of Global Operations within MX.
- Cheolgi Kim will now lead the Digital Appliances Business, previously overseen within the DX division.
- Mauro Porcini, former design executive at Pepsi and 3M, joins as President and Chief Design Officer.
Porcini’s hiring underscores Samsung’s ambition to enhance design synergy across all product categories, including smartphones, TVs, and home appliances.
🧭 Strategic Outlook
With TM Roh now overseeing both MX and DX units, Samsung aims to streamline product innovation, enhance cross-division coordination, and maintain its edge in mobile and smart home ecosystems.
“With the addition of Mr. Porcini, Samsung Electronics plans to further strengthen its design capabilities across all business areas,” the company stated.
📝 Final Thoughts
TM Roh’s interim leadership of the DX division marks a significant transition period for Samsung, following the loss of Han Jong-hee. With proven experience in driving mobile innovation, Roh’s expanded role may shape the next phase of Samsung’s smart device strategy.
Further updates are expected in the coming months as the company finalizes its leadership structure.
