Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy A36, which will succeed the Galaxy A35 that debuted in March. A prototype of the A36 recently appeared on Geekbench, revealing a surprising detail: it is being tested with Android 15. Google officially released Android 15 for its Pixel devices just yesterday, but Samsung is not expected to roll it out widely until the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025.
This suggests that the Galaxy A36 will likely launch after the Galaxy S25, with Android 15 pre-installed. Interestingly, this testing hints that the A36 could be part of Samsung’s newer update policy, as the recently launched Galaxy A16 5G is promised six major Android updates. If the A36 follows suit, it could be supported up to Android 21.

The Geekbench listing also indicates that the A36 will be powered by either the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipsets, a shift from the Exynos 1380 used in the Galaxy A35. The prototype tested had 6GB of RAM, though additional RAM options might be available when the device officially launches.
