Nothing Phone (2a) Plus

Nothing has always aimed to bridge the gap between technology and its community, giving fans an opportunity to directly influence the design of its products. In its latest endeavor, Nothing invited community members to collaborate on a new edition of the Nothing Phone (2a), resulting in the glow-in-the-dark Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition, a device available globally in all markets where Nothing operates.

The Journey to the Community Edition

The design process spanned four stages, with a winner from each stage contributing their ideas to bring the final product to life:

  • Stage 1 focused on hardware design, and the honor went to Astrid Vanhuyse and Kenta Akasaki. They collaborated with Nothing’s Design Director, Adam Bates, and CMF Designer, Lucy Birley, drawing inspiration from the natural glow of fireflies. This unique feature uses sunlight to create a glow effect in the dark—no batteries or electronic power required.
  • Stage 2 brought six custom wallpapers by Andrés Mateos, each tailored to complement the glowing aesthetics of the phone.
  • Stage 3 saw Ian Henry Simmonds design eco-friendly, sleek packaging exclusive to this edition.
  • Stage 4 culminated in a fresh marketing campaign conceptualized by Sonya Palma. The campaign slogan, “Find your light. Capture your light,” encourages users to embrace their unique style with this distinctive device.

Availability and Pricing

The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition is priced at £399 / €449 / ₹29,999 / ¥55,800, matching the regular model’s pricing. Equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, this special edition will be available worldwide, although Japanese customers will receive a version based on the regular Phone (2a).

Limited Edition Details

Only 1,000 units of the Community Edition are set to be released. To secure one, fans should register their interest on nothing.tech before open sales begin on November 12.

With its glow-in-the-dark feature, collaborative design, and exclusive accessories, the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition stands out as a testament to Nothing’s commitment to innovation through community engagement. Don’t miss your chance to own this limited-edition piece of technology.
