Samsung Knox Native Solution Sets New Benchmark for Government-Grade Mobile Security

Samsung Electronics has unveiled a groundbreaking milestone for secure mobile communications with its Knox Native Solution, certified by Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). Designed for governments and enterprises, Knox Native Solution delivers government-grade protection without the need for third-party add-ons, simplifying secure communication for organizations globally.

This achievement further positions Samsung as a global cybersecurity leader, with its solution already certified by authorities in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. By meeting Germany’s stringent security standards, Knox Native Solution sets a global precedent for secure, integrated mobile environments for key industries, including public transportation, energy infrastructure, and governmental authorities.

A Collaboration That Redefines Secure Communications

Traditionally, achieving high-security standards on Android devices required cumbersome processes involving external SD cards, additional software, and multiple PIN activations. Updates to third-party systems often triggered prolonged re-certification, complicating security deployment further.

To address these challenges, Samsung collaborated with the BSI to develop a pre-configured platform that meets Germany’s rigorous security policies while enhancing usability. Knox Native Solution integrates Samsung’s advanced embedded Secure Element (eSE), featuring the BSI Java Card Applet certified at the Common Criteria EAL 6+ level—an industry-leading assurance level for security.

The solution establishes a tamper-resistant security zone on Samsung Galaxy devices, ensuring real-time threat protection, encrypted data storage, and secure communication channels. Built natively into the device, core functions like email, calendar, and contacts no longer require third-party applications, ensuring a seamless and secure user experience.

Seamless Deployment with High Security Standards

Knox Native Solution eliminates the need for complex security setups, enabling organizations to deploy secure devices efficiently with minimal steps. The built-in protections for data-at-rest, data-in-use, and data-in-transit preserve Samsung Galaxy’s streamlined user experience, ensuring no compromises in security or usability.

Key features include:

  • Single PIN Activation: A simplified approach for secure access to multiple work scenarios.
  • Knox Native Solution SDK: Enables seamless integration of company-owned applications with advanced security measures.
  • Optimized Security Management: Centralized control for large device fleets through Knox Suite ensures cost-efficiency and operational simplicity for enterprises.

By reimagining security evaluation processes, Knox Native Solution simplifies development and approval requirements, allowing organizations to maintain high-security standards for entire device ecosystems while minimizing disruptions.

Continued Innovation for a Hyperconnected World

The BSI certification underscores Samsung’s unwavering commitment to delivering robust, government-approved mobile solutions for enterprises and governments worldwide. Samsung plans to expand the availability of Knox Native Solution across other regions, fortifying its leadership in secure, hyperconnected mobile ecosystems.

Tuncay Sandikci, Director of MX B2B at Samsung Electronics Germany, remarked:

“We are honored to receive this certification from the BSI as proof of our commitment to meeting rigorous security standards and providing fortified mobile security solutions to a growing list of governments and enterprises worldwide. In an increasingly hyperconnected world, we remain dedicated to empowering all users with secure, privacy-driven experiences.”

Device Compatibility and Future Expansion

The embedded Secure Element (eSE) is currently available in:

  • Galaxy S23 (all models)
  • Galaxy S24 (all models)
  • Galaxy Tab S8+ (German only)
  • Galaxy XCover6 Pro

Samsung plans to integrate eSE into future Galaxy devices, aligning with its Knox Matrix security roadmap to ensure sustained innovation in mobile security.

Conclusion

Samsung’s Knox Native Solution sets a new benchmark for government-grade security, combining advanced protections with seamless usability. By eliminating reliance on third-party systems, Samsung delivers a secure, efficient mobile communication platform tailored to meet the needs of governments and enterprises worldwide.
