Kampala, Uganda – Xiaomi has unveiled two new additions to its growing smart wearables ecosystem, introducing the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses alongside the Redmi Buds 8 Lite. The announcement was made during the European launch event for the Redmi Note 15 series, marking another step in Xiaomi’s push beyond smartphones into lifestyle-focused tech.
The debut highlights Xiaomi’s strategy of blending everyday accessories with smart audio technology. By offering both audio-enabled glasses and low-cost wireless earbuds, the company is targeting users who want flexible listening options without relying solely on traditional headphones.
The Mijia Smart Audio Glasses are designed to look like ordinary eyewear while integrating advanced audio hardware. They feature dual built-in speakers and four microphones, allowing them to function much like wireless earbuds while keeping the ears open. This design supports hands-free calls, music playback, and voice assistant access without blocking ambient sound.
Touch-sensitive controls placed on the temples let users adjust volume, manage playback, answer calls, or activate voice assistants with simple gestures. Xiaomi has also added a press-and-hold function that enables real-time recording for calls and meetings, aimed at professionals and frequent callers. Wind noise reduction and a dedicated privacy mode help limit sound leakage in public spaces.
The smart glasses are available in three frame styles: Brownline and Pilot-Style models priced at €179, and a lighter Titanium version priced at €199. All variants offer IP54-rated dust and splash resistance. The titanium model weighs just over 27 grams without lenses, while all designs maintain slim 5mm temples. Connectivity is handled via Bluetooth 5.4 with support for pairing to two devices simultaneously.
Battery performance is another key feature of the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses. Each temple houses a 114mAh battery, delivering up to 13 hours of music playback or around 9 hours of call time. Charging is done through a proprietary magnetic connector that attaches to the temples and connects via USB-C.
Alongside the glasses, Xiaomi also introduced the Redmi Buds 8 Lite, positioned as an affordable entry in its wireless earbuds lineup. The buds use 12.4mm titanium-diaphragm drivers and support Bluetooth 5.4 with dual-device pairing. They work with AAC and SBC codecs and integrate with Xiaomi’s Earbuds app, which offers preset sound profiles and a custom equalizer.
Despite their budget pricing, the Redmi Buds 8 Lite include hybrid active noise cancellation rated at up to 42dB, along with wind and call noise reduction. Battery life reaches up to 8 hours on a single charge, extending to a total of 36 hours when used with the charging case.
The Redmi Buds 8 Lite are available in black, white, and blue, with a retail price of €23. With this launch, Xiaomi continues to strengthen its position in the smart wearables market by offering feature-rich devices across different price segments.
